UNDERGROUND BATH
Site
Glasgow, The UK
Date
December 2019
My inspiration for this project comes from the sponge, sponge comes from nature and has some characteristics like absorbing, purification, nature shapes, which has a subtle and interesting connection with my thoughts.
I aim to design an underground bathhouse by extracting the organic figures from sponges. Due to climate change, the sea level keeps rising, and the activities of the space will change because of the rise of the groundwater level until one day the whole space submerges into nature.
That’s the view from the outside of the architecture, the building is cover by grass, which integrates into the surrounding environment.
There's a rotate stair connecting the ground floor and B1, visitors need to change the cloth and shoes before they get downstairs to start a sensory experience trip.
The massage room is designed in an integrated way, with tactile bumpy tiles, which can stimulate the people's senses when they contact with the material.
